Inaprubahan ng National Police Commission (Napolcom) ang pag-recruit ng halos 20,000 patrolmen at patrolwomen upang maitalaga na mga kawani ng ahensiya at mapabuti pa ang kanilang pagseserbisyo sa taumbayan.
Ayon sa Napolcom, ang recruitment ng 17,314 bagong pulis ay para mailagay sa mga nabakanteng personnel, mapalakas ang kanilang hanay, mapunan ang mga pulis sa mga lugar, mapabuti ang tinatawag na police-to-population ratio at mapahusay ang peace and order condition sa bansa.
Sinabi ni Napolcom Vice-Chairman Vitaliano Aguirre II na ang National Capital Region Police Office ay bibigyan ng regular na 1,000 recruitment quota para sa unang recruitment cycle.
“The 16,314 attrition recruitment quota, on the other hand, is intended to replace uniformed personnel losses due to separation from the service (retirement, designation, death, dismissal from the service, absence without leave),” ayon sa statement ni Aguirre.
Samantala, ang recruitment quota ay itatakda sa mga Police Regional Offices sa una at ikalawang cycle gaya ng 350 sa PRO1; 400 sa PRO2; 750 sa PRO3; 750 sa PRO4A; 450 sa PRO4B; 850 sa PRO5; 100 sa PRO6; 650 sa PRO7; 1,200 sa PRO8; 100 sa PRO9; 150 sa PRO10; 100 sa PRO11; 100 sa PRO12; 100 sa PRO13; 100 sa PRO COR; 1,700 sa PRO BAR; at 5,000 sa NCRPO.
Dagdag pa ng Napolcom, 200 ang itatalaga sa Anti-Cybercrime Group; 350 sa Communications and Electronics Service; 200 sa Criminal Investigation and Detection Group; 500 sa Crime Laboratory; 100 sa Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine Group; 500 sa Health Service; 150 sa Headquarters Support Service; 100 sa Intelligence Group; 100 sa Legal Service; 1,000 sa Maritime Group; 250 sa National Police Training Institute; 514 sa PNP Drug Enforcement Group; 100 sa PNP Retirement and Benefits Administration Service; 150 sa Police Security and Protection Group; 100 sa Special Action Force; at 150 sa PNP Training Service.
Ipinaalala naman ni Aguirre sa mga awtoridad na kinakailangang sumunod sa rules and regulations ng pagsasagawa ng recruitment at appointment ng mga patrolmen at patrolwomen kasabay ng pagpapatupad sa itinakdang guidelines ng Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) na community quarantine.
