Ipinagdiriwang ng Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) ang Pride Month sa pamamagitan ng 2nd PelikuLAYA: LGBTQIA+ Film Festival online from June 4 to 30 na may theme na Sama-Sama, Lahat Rarampa!
Ang pag-oorganisa ng FDCP ng filmfest ay para lalo pang ma-empower ang members ng LGBTQIA+ community through a lineup of local and international films, lectures and film talks, a drag yoga event, and musical performances.
Ayon kay FDCP Chairperson Liza Diño-Seguerra, “The Film Development Council of the Philippines is relaunching PelikuLAYA this year as an annual LGBTQIA+ film festival organized by the national government as our way to express our continued support for gender equality and inclusivity by creating platforms to bring to light the struggles, celebrate the achievements, and champion the causes of the LGBTQIA+ community.”
As we all know, ang kanyang partner at mister na si Ice Seguerra ay isang LGBTQIA+ member.
So, si Ice po, more than a year na rin pong walang work. So, we’re both, you know, finding way to maintain and sustain our life and ano po… so, when it happens, it happens. Ayoko na lang pong magsalita.
"But of course, it’s always in our plans po. Kaso, magpo-40 na po ako ngayong June. Hahaha! This is my birthday month po.”
And speaking of baby, tinanong namin kay Chair Liza kung matatanggap ba niya na magkaroon din ng karelasyong member ng LGBTQIA+ ang unica hija niyang si Amara.
“Oh, yeah. Sobra! If there’s one thing that I have with my daughter is honestly… Uh, it’s not in my place to actually, you know, share with everyone how she identifies, but I think it’s in her page, hihihi! (on her) Facebook page. And I fully support that.
“I love my daughter because she knows who she is. She’s not gonna be one of those kids who experienced gender dysphoria, because hindi nila alam kung paano sila, how can they be competence with their identity.
“I know for sure that my daughter, we know, that our daughter is in a place, a safe place, where she could be anything she wants to be. And she could be whoever she wants to be.
“And, uh, I know my daughter’s orientation. And I fully support that, and it’s normal thing for us to discuss inside the house. And for me, ganyan na rin po ang mga kabataan natin ngayon, na-normalize na nila ‘yung conversation. Meron silang mga terms like “rookie(???)” and all that. And I am just so amazed by that kind of normal conversations they have about being LGBT. They actually say, 'Everybody’s gay.' Hahahaha!”
Trese-anyos na raw si Amara at nakikita niya ang kanyang anak with her friends/classmates who identifies as transmen.
“Siya talaga ‘yung very adamant to show respect by referring to individuals by their names.
