Tooth fossil ng pating na Megalodon, natagpuan sa Bohol

Batay sa kasunduan ng Pilipinas at ADB, gagamitin ang naturang pondo para sa Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) o ayuda sa mga mahihirap na pamilyang Pilipinong naapektuhan ng COVID-19.


Isang tooth fossil ng Megalodon, pinakamalaking pating na nabubuhay sa mundo na tatlong beses ang laki nito kumpara sa white shark, ang natagpuan sa Maribojoc, Bohol.


Nadiskubre ang mga ngipin ng ancient shark, na nabuhay ng 23 million taon, ni Christian Gio Bangalao, mangingisda sa lugar. Inilagay na ang tooth fossil sa NM Bohol Area Museum.


"All signs of the megalodon’s existence ended 2.6 million years ago in the current fossil record. Confirmed and suspected fossilized megalodon teeth from Bohol are of smaller sizes but this may suggest that these specimens came from juveniles and baby sharks may have frequented the shallow sea waters of Southwestern Bohol, what is now the Maribojoc area,” pahayag ng pamunuan ng NM Bohol Area Museum.


Ito ang ikalawang beses na nakadiskubre ng megalodon specimen sa lugar na may 7.6 cm x 6.5cm ang sukat, ayon sa report ng museum.
