Temporary shortage ng paracetamol, nararanasan sa ilang lugar – PHAP

Nagpahayag ang Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Association of the Philippines (PHAP) na nakararanas sa ngayon ng temporary shortage ng partikular na brands ng paracetamol sa ilang mga lugar sa bansa.


Ito ang naging tugon ng pharmaceutical group matapos ang statement ng Department of Health (DOH) na mayrooong sapat na supply ng anti-flu pills sa bansa.


“With the heightened vigilance against the Omicron variant, and a number of people getting sick due to various reasons, we are experiencing a temporary shortage of certain brands of paracetamol in some areas,” ani PHAP sa isang statement.


Ayon sa grupo, ang temporary shortage para sa partikular na brands ay kanilang na-monitor sa Metro Manila.


Gayunman, ang mga pasyente ay maaaring humingi sa kanilang mga doktor at pharmacists ng mga alternatibo para rito anila, “several alternatives if these brands are unavailable.”


Ipinaliwanag naman ng PHAP na ang paracetamol ay available sa iba’t ibang dosage forms, bisa at lakas nito, kombinasyon ng produkto, at nasa ilalim ng ilang daang brands.


“Alternative analgesics are also available,” sabi pa ng grupo. “At the moment, we have enough supply of analgesics available in our inventory.”


Umapela naman ang DOH sa publiko na huwag i-hoard o mag-imbak ng naturang medisina at hindi dapat na mag- panic-buying dahil patuloy ang ahensiya na nakikipag-ugnayan sa ibang ahensiya, gaya ng Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) at Food and Drug Administration (FDA) para tiyakin ang kinakailangang health products na bahagi ng COVID-19 response ng gobyerno.


“We also call on them to buy only the needed number, and not overstock, because medicines have a limited shelf life or expiration date, and to consider other patients who may need them more,” giit ng PHAP.


Una nang sinabi ni DTI Secretary Mon Lopez na walang kakulangan ng paracetamol sa bansa.


“Since the pandemic began, PHAP members have been working tirelessly to make both COVID and non-COVID medicines available to Filipinos during these challenging times,” ayon sa grupo.


“We are also closely coordinating with the government on pharmaceutical security, and providing recommendations to ensure the uninterrupted supply of medicines in the country,” dagdag pa nila.
