Talino sa programa ng Rugby haharaping Challenge ni Milby

Masusubok ang talino sa paggawa ng programa sa sport na Rugby sa buong mundo si Philippine Rugby Union President Ada Milby sa pagtakbo nito bilang miyembro ng Executive Committee ng World Rugby Federation sa Mayo 12.


Makakatapat ng 37-anyos na US Army staff sergeant sina Cristina Flores ng Rugby Americas North at Jonathan Webb ng Rugby Football Union ng Europa para sa bakanteng puwestong iniwan ni Gareth Davies.


Sakaling palarin ang Filipino-American at dating rugby player, palalakasin niya pagpapalawak ng sports sa Asya, higit na sa Pilipinas, na bansang hindi tradisyonal na naglalaro ng Rugby sports, ngunit malaki ang potensyal na kinakailangan lamang ng tamang gabay at exposure para mas lalo pang umangat sa buong mundo. “We know that in order to continue growing and developing world wide, we really need to have a focus effort in Asia, which means focusing on countries that are not traditionally rugby nation, countries like Philippines and India, China, Mongolia and all this nations that have huge populations and we have a great opportunity to grow the game through this population that been exposed to the sport yet so my priorities will be,” pahayag ni Milby, Huwebes ng umaga sa lingguhang TOPS: Usapang Sports live via zoom online.


Nais din ni Milby na madagdagan ng babaeng kinatawan sa World Rugby Executive Committee, kung saan tanging nag-iisang babae lamang ang naka-upo at kasalukuyang may 10 lalaki ang namumuno. “It’s really an exciting time. I am one of two female candidates that standing for the first time in the history of the organization of the international federation. And if I’m successful in my bid, I would be the first female elected to the position and I will be the first representative for Asia, male or female to hold the position,” paliwanag ni Milby. “It’s really a tight race for the moment, there are 3 of us in total running, and we’re a vying for the same position, to make sure that we’re strategically guide the global game of rugby which of course include racing a profile in the Philippines.”
