Naging mapayapa umano ang selebrasyon ng Chinese New Year sa bansa matapos na ipagbawal ang festivities dahil sa banta ng COVID-19, ayon sa Philippine National Police (PNP).

“The Chinese New Year celebration was generally peaceful,” ANI PNP chief PGen. Dionardo Carlos sa isang pahayag.

“No one is exempted from our health protocol. Just like last January 1, we discouraged the gathering of people since the threat of COVID-19 is still everywhere,” dagdag niya.

Ayon kay Carlos, may ilang Chinese temples na sumunod sa kanilang New Year rituals pero hindi binuksan sa publiko.

Hindi rin umano magarbo ang selebrasyon ngayong taon kumpara sa mga nagdaang taon, ““the simple celebration still became meaningful because no untoward incident was recorded nationwide.”

Gayunman, sinabi ng PNP chief na patuloy ang pagmo-monitor ng kapulisan sa public establishments kahit pa ibinaba na sa alert level 2 ang ilang lugar, kabilang ang Metro Manila.
