Scammers sa Bagyong Ulysses ipinahahanap na sa NBI at PNP

Ipinahahanap ni Samar 1st District Rep. Edgar Sarmiento sa Philippine National Police (PNP) at National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) ang mga scammers na nanghihingi ng pera na ginagamit ang sitwasyon ng mga sinalanta ng bagyo.

Binalaan din ni Sarmiento ang publiko matapos makarating sa kanya na mayroong isang grupo na nagpapanggap na mula sa kanyang opisina na humihingi ng pera sa kanyang mga kaibigan, supporters at ilang businessmen bilang parte raw umano ng fundraising activity para sa mga biktima ng bagyo.

Aniya, “The office of one of our colleagues called to verify if I’m seeking assistance in the form of cash donation for the victims of the calamity. Please be informed that there is no such activity or any donation drive.”

Ginagamit umano ng mga scammers ang pangalan ng mga pulitiko, showbiz personalities at ilan pang kilalang tao upang makakalap ng malaking halaga.

Saad pa ni Sarmiento, “While we are appealing for help for tens of thousands of families who lost their homes, properties and the lives of their loved ones, we should make sure that our donations do not end up in the hands of these unscrupulous syndicates who are preying on the misfortunes of other people.”
