Red Tide Alert

Nakitaan sa ilang baybayin ng Visayas at Mindanao na positibo sa paralytic shellfish poison o toxic red tide, kung saan lumagpas sa regulatory limit nito, ayon sa Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) ngayong Biyernes.


Sa pinaka-latest bulletin ng BFAR, ang lahat ng uri ng shellfish at alamang o krill ay hindi ligtas na kainin na matatagpuan sa mga sumusunod na baybayin:

• coastal areas ng Dauis at Tagbilaran City sa Bohol

• Carigara Bay at coastal waters ng Leyte

• Matarinao Bay sa Eastern Samar

• Villareal, Cambatutay, at San Pedro Bay sa Western Samar

• Lianga Bay sa Surigao del Sur

• Dumanquillas Bay sa Zamboanga del Sur


Gayunman, ayon sa BFAR ang mga isda, pusit, hipon, at crabs o alimango ay ligtas namang kainin, subalit anila, “provided that they are fresh and washed thoroughly, and internal organs such as gills and intestines are removed before cooking.”
