Pinag-aaralan ng Kamara ang posibilidad na pakuhanin na rin ng prangkisa ang mga social media platforms sa Kongreso.
Ito ang sinabi ni Surigao del Norte Second District Rep. Robert Ace Barbers sa pagdinig ng House Tri-Committee sa gitna ng pagkalat ng fake news, disinformation at misinformation online.
Paliwanag ni Barbers sa pamamagitan nito ay mare-regulate ang mga social media.
“Because we want to make sure that it’s not just the platforms who make money, but also the Philippine government. That’s one. Number two, if you are under the franchise of this government… you will be subject to the regulations, and then the rules that will be enforced under this law,” pahayag ni Barbers sa pagdinig.
Tiniyak naman niya at ni House Committee on Public Order and Safety vice chairperson at Antipolo Second District Rep. Romeo Acop na hindi nito layuning sagkaan ang freedom of expression o speech.
