Inanunsiyo ng Department of Budget and Management (DBM) nitong Lunes, na naglabas ito ng mahigit sa P6 bilyon para tulungan ang Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) sa pagpapabuti ng mga fish ports sa bansa.
Ayon sa DBM, magbibigay-daan ang budget sa PFDA na ipatupad ang Fisheries Infrastructure Development Program ng ahensya.
Nagmula naman ang pondo sa 2024 national budget.
“Our shores are more than mere lines on the map. It is among the driving forces of our nation,” sabi ni DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman sa isang pahayag.
“Enhancing and maintaining strategic and globally competitive fish ports would allow our ships and crews access to essential supplies and services, and for vessel operators to successfully bring in their catches, safeguarding the livelihood of our fishermen,” dagdag niya.
Nilagdaan ang Special Allotment Release Order noong Pebrero 28 at inihayag ang hakbang na ito sa media ngayong Lunes.
