Nahuli ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) ang suspek na nagbebenta ng halos 30 milyong halaga ng pekeng mga gamot tulad ng Biogesic, Neozep, Bioflu, Immunpro, Ivermectin, Phenokinon F Injection, Medicol, Planax, Alaxan FR, MX3, at iba pa noong Enero 5.
Kasama ng BOC sa nasabing operasyon ang Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA), Intelligence Service Armed Forces Of the Philippines (ISAFP), at Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
Sinabi ng Customs na kinumpirma ng Food and Drug Administration (FDA) at Unilab Pharmaceuticals na peke ang mga gamot.
Nakalagay ang mga pekeng gamot sa isang karton na may Chinese characters at natagpuan sa dalawang storage sa 7434B at 7434C Highland St., Marcelo Green Village at 27 Pearl St., Severina Subdivision, Km 18, Brgy. Marcelo, Paranaque City.
Kinilala ang suspek na si Adel Rajput, isang Pakistani national, 31 taong gulang at residente sa Caloocan City.
Dinala si Adel Rajput sa Paranaque City Prosecutors' Office para i-inquest at nahaharap sa mga kasong violation of Sec. 1401 (Unlawful Importation/Exportation), Sec. 1113 (Property Subject to Seizure and Forfeiture) paragraph (l) (5) in relation to Sec. 118 (Prohibited Importation and Exportation) paragraph (e) of the CMTA, and the violation of Republic Act No. 8293 (Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines and its Pertinent Rules and Regulations).
Ang visa ng suspek ay sasailalim sa revocation process sa Bureau of Immigration.
“We received reports about the presence of counterfeit items. It’s not just items, but medicines. We acted on this immediately because this can pose a health threat. They are selling these to unsuspecting people whose only hope is to buy authentic medicines for themselves and their loved ones,” ani Raniel Ramiro, Customs Deputy Commissioner of Intelligence Group.
Ang mga nakumpiskang pekeng gamot ay dinala sa BOC para sa imbestigasyon at inventory.
Noong Nov. 24, 2021, nakumpiska rin ng BOC ang mga pekeng gamot sa isang warehouse sa Pasig City kabilang ang Alaxan, Tuseran Forte, Propan, at Diatabs na nagkakahalagang P50 milyon.
