P150-M ilegal na PPEs, face masks at shields, nasabat sa Binondo, Manila

Nasabat ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) ang tinatayang aabot sa halagang P150 million unregistered personal protective equipment (PPE) kabilang na ang mga face masks at shields sa isang warehouse sa Binondo, Manila noong May 5.


Sa pakikipagtulungan ng BOC sa Manila International Container Port’s (MICP) Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) at Enforcement and Security Service (ESS), at Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), hindi nakalusot ang mga naturang produkto.


Kaakibat ng Letter of Authority (LOA) na nilagdaan ni BOC Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero, nag-inspeksiyon ang awtoridad sa storage facility at natagpuan ang mga hindi rehistradong Aidelai masks at Heng De face shields, cosmetic/beauty products, luxury clothing, mga laruan at cellphone cases.


Saad pa ng BOC, “Further inventory and investigation are underway to ascertain the value and for the possible filing of charges for violation of Section 1400 of RA 10863 also known as the Customs Modernization Act (CMTA).


“The Bureau reiterates the importance of ensuring the authenticity of items especially for items such as face masks and other PPE.”
