Nangako ang pamahalaan na magbibigay ng assistance sa mga Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) na nagpositibo sa COVID-19 na nasa Hong Kong, sa gitnang ng restriksyon na ipinatutupad ng mga awtoridad sa naturang bansa.
“Our POLO [Philippine Overseas Labor Office] immediately provided them with food, hygiene kits and power banks to allow them to communicate while waiting for calls from the Center for Health Protection and HK Labour Department,” ayon kay acting presidential spokesperson Karlo Nograles ngayong Lunes.
“In addition to this, our POLO coordinated with a non-government organization to provide an isolation facility to accommodate several of our OFWs. It also coordinated with the HK Labour Department, which set up an isolation facility for our kababayans, pending admission to the quarantine facility, apart from providing transportation arrangements,” ani pa ng opisyal.
Sinabi pa ni Nograles na ang POLO ay nag-provide na ng US$200 para sa tinatawag na after-care financial assistance doon sa mga nakarekober na sa COVID-19.
Sa 28 OFWs na nasa Hong Kong na nagpositibo sa test sa COVID-19 hanggang nitong Pebrero 19, 2022, lima sa kanila ay nakarekober na sa sakit.
Sa lima, tatlo naman sa mga ito ay nakabalik na sa kanilang employers. Ang Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) ay nagbigay din ng $US200 bawat isa na COVID-positive na OFW.
