Pumanaw na ang National Artist for Theater na si Amelia Lapeña-Bonifacio, ayon sa National Center for Culture and Arts (NCCA).
Ayon naman sa Teatrong Mulat ng Pilipinas, ngayong Martes, alas-7 ng umaga, pumanaw si Bonifacio.
Pahayag ng NCCA, “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of National Artist Amelia Lapeña-Bonifacio, University of the Philippines Professor Emeritus and Founding Artistic Director of Teatrong Mulat ng Pilipinas at 7 AM today, December 29, 2020 at the age of 90.”
Kilala rin si Bonifacio bilang “Grande Dame of Southeast Asian Children’s Theatre.”
Nakapagsulat din si Bonifacio ng 44 plays, 136 short stories, at 27 libro.
Samantala, hindi binanggit ng NCCA o ng Teatrong Mulat ang rason ng pagkamatay ni Bonifacio.
