Mga OFW puwede na ulit sa Taiwan simula Feb. 15

Papayagan nang muling makapasok ang mga Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) sa Taiwan simula February 15 sa kabila ng banta ng COVID-19, ayon sa Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) nitong Lunes.


Sa isang pahayag, sinabi ni MECO Resident Representative at Chairman Wilfredo Fernandez na ito ay kinumpirma ng Taiwan Economic and Cultural Office sa Maynila.


“We want to thank the Taiwan officials, as well as their business leaders, for their continuing trust and confidence in the world-class skills, competence, and work ethics of Filipino workers,” ani Fernandez.


Gayunman, kailangang mag-comply ng mga OFW sa requirements ng Taiwan government.


Kabilang dito ang documentary requirements ng vaccination cards, RT-PCR results, at mandatory quarantine, ayon kay Fernandez.


Ayon pa kay Fernandez, kailangang bayaran ngrecruitment agencies ang pre-deployment pandemic fees ng OFW na tutungo sa Taiwan, kung saan ito ay mandated sa ilalim ng memorandum circular 1 of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).


“Any infraction will be dealt with severely in accordance with the law,” pahayag ni Fernandez.


Samantala, sinabi ni MECO labor official at lawyer na si Cesar Chavez, Jr. na nagbabala ang Taiwan authorities sa mga OFWs tungkol sa pagpapsa ng fake vaccination cards.


Mahigit 35,000 OFWs ang nag-aabang ng job openings sa Taiwan na may 11,000 new hires at 24,000 replacements, ayon sa MECO.


Sa ngayon, nasa 160,000 Filipinos ang nagtatrabaho sa Taiwan.
