Idineklara ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ngayong Huwebes, ang Mayo 9, 2022 na special non-working holiday kaugnay sa gaganaping 2022 national at local elections.
“Therefore, I, Rodrigo Roa Duterte, President of the Philippines, by the virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Monday, 09 May 2022, a special (non-working) holiday throughout the country for the National and Local elections,” pahayag ni Pangulong Duterte sa Proclamation 1357 na may petsang Mayo 5.
Giit ng Pangulo, kinakailangan ng mga mamamayan na i-exercise ang kanilang karapatan na bumoto.
“There is a need to declare Monday, 09 May 2022, a special (non-working) holiday to enable the people to properly exercise their right to vote, subject to the public health measures of the national government,” dagdag ng Pangulo.
Nakatakda ang mga Pilipinong bumoto ng bagong pangulo, pangalawang pangulo, 12 senador, mga congressmen, local government officials, at party-list representatives sa Mayo 9 o sa ikalawang Lunes ng Mayo, na nakasaad sa Constitution.
