Matapos magpasa ng irrevocable resignation bilang contact tracing czar kaugnay ng dinaluhang kontrobersiyal na party kung saan nalabag ang COVID-19 health protocols, nilinaw ni Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong na mananatili siya sa naturang posisyon kung nanaisin ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
Nauna nang sinabi ni Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque na hindi tinanggap ng Malacañang ang kanyang pagbibitiw at ayon kay Magalong, magkakaroon sila ng pagpupulong ni Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. at Deputy Chief Implementer Secretary Vince Dizon tungkol sa kanyang resignation.
Aniya, "I'm due to meet with Secretary Galvez this week together with Secretary Vince and again I would like to reiterate that my resignation is irrevocable. I will continue to help in the contact tracing.”
Inamin naman ni Magalong na hindi niya mahihindian si P-Duterte kung ito na mismo ang magsasabi sa kanya na manatili sa puwesto bilang contact tracing czar ngunit umaasa siya na hindi na ito makarating pa sa pangulo.
Aniya, "It is a situation that no one can refuse if the President tells you to stay and perform your job. I cannot refuse the President. Pero hindi naman na siguro aabot 'yan kay Presidente, sa dami ng problema ng Presidente. Siguro at the level ni Secretary Galvez, makapagdesisyon na.”
Samantala, sa ngayon ay pinangungunahan pa rin ni Magalong ang contact tracing efforts sa Bontoc at La Trinidad.
Aniya pa, "I continue to perform my job as contact tracing lead, in fact mina-manage pa rin namin 'yung situation doon sa Bontoc and La Trinidad and I just met with Asec. France Laxamana yesterday of DOH and we are due to meet with her team on Wednesday para nga turuan namin ng aming analytical tools, especially on the aspect of link analysis.”
