Naaliw kami sa interbyu ni Pops Fernandez sa ex-hubby niya na si Concert King Martin Nievera for her YouTube (YT) channel.
Part of the interview ay tinanong ni Pops si Martin kung ano ang top three concerts na nagawa niya sa loob ng apat na dekada niya sa music industry.
Unang sinabi ni Martin ay ang katatapos lang na 42nd anniversary concert niya sa
Araneta Coliseum, ang The King 4Ever.
Esplika ni Martin, “The King 4Ever because it was a show by my friends na may tiwala sa
‘kin.
“Ahh, ‘yung unang-unang concert ko sa Folk Arts Theater must have to be another one.
“And third, siguro ‘yung first na ginamit ko ang Philharmonic Orchestra. It was called Live at the CCP with the PPO, with the MRN Live!’’
Ikinuwento naman ni Martin kung saang show siya naging pinakaemosyonal sa dinami-dami ng kanyang performances.
“I want to say sa San Carlos, Cebu, bago (lang) naghiwalay ang magulang ko. That was emotional and for some reason, the Cebuanos knew it.
“Wala kaming social media, walang balita. But somehow, they felt I was feeling. They sang the whole song Say That You Love Me with candles. Wala pang cellphones at that time,” lahad ni Martin.
Napaisip naman kami kung na-upset kaya si Pops sa sagot ni Martin, baka kasi ang iniisip niya ay unang concert na ginawa ni Martin after their separation.
For sure, kasama ‘yan. Kaya lang, top three lang ang hiningi ni Pops kay Martin kaya hindi ‘yun nakasama. Baka naman nasa pang-apat, ‘di kaya?
Tinanong din ni Pops kung sino ang gustong maka-duet pa ni Martin bukod sa kanya.
“Walang BS (bullsh*t) ‘to,” diin ni Martin.
“The easiest, the most automatic ka-duet is really you. And to do back-to-back shows with you? It’s the easiest. People don’t know how easy it is for us to perform together.”
Sey pa ni Martin, “My dream duet, oh, I would love to sing a duet with Michael Bublé.”
Singit ni Pops, possible na mangyari, since magkaibigan naman daw sina Michael at Martin.
Kumanta na raw sila ni Michael once and jammed in one of Martin’s shows on stage. At bukod kay Michael, gusto ring maka-duet ni Martin on stage si Celine Dion.
“Uh, I would love to sing with Celine Dion. And if my dad is still alive, I would love to sing with him again, Robin (Martin and Pops eldest son), my dad and our grandson Flynn. Can you imagine?” bulalas ni Martin.
Na-amaze naman si Pops when Martin revealed to her kung saan ang dream concert venue ni Concert King.
“With an orchestra led by David Foster at the Colosseum in Rome (Italy),” excited na sabi ni Martin.
Nagustuhan din ni Pops ang pangarap na concert ni Martin.
“Ooooh! I love that. First of all, I love Italy. I love Rome. And that would be perfect,” sey ni Pops.
Dugtong pa ni Concert Queen, “Well, words are powerful. You’ll never know.”
May tanong si Pops kay Martin na siya mismo ay alam na niya ang isasagot ng kanyang ex-hubby. At ito ay kung kailan planong mag-retire ni Martin sa pagkanta.
“Never,” diin ni Martin.
Pahayag niya, “Until I lose my voice. Until you (the public) lose interest in my voice, there’s no more songs to sing or audience to sing to. No song to sing about, no reason. No occasion to sing for. I’ll keep singing. There’s no ending to this.”
Towards the end ng interbyu, pinasalamatan ni Martin si Pops for always being there for him, pero ibinuking ni Pops na nag-aaway pa rin sila ni Martin until now.
Pagri-reveal ni Pops, “I try to, when we’re not fighting. Hahaha!”
In fairness, bagay na bagay talagang panoorin sina Pops and Martin on stage at sa mga ganitong tsikahan, kaya ‘di nakakapagtaka na ang dami pa ring nagwi-wish na magkabalikan sila in real life.
At pati ang girlfriend ni Martin ngayon na si Anj Del Rosario ay iwini-wish ng mga fans na ipaubaya na nito ang Concert King kay Pops.
Sey ng isang fan, “Congrats, Martin, The Concert King. Sana magpaubaya na lang si Anj Del Rosario para magkabalikan na sina Pops at Martin.
“Sana, mag-miracle na you’ll get back together (heart emoji).”
