Pumanaw na si retired police general at Light Rail Transport Authority (LRTA) administrator na si Reynaldo Berroya sa edad na 74, umaga ng Lunes, Nobyembre 15.
Ito ang kinumpirma ni Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade.
“It is with profound sadness and sorrow that we bid adieu to one of the most courageous and dedicated public servants and defenders of the Republic, Gen. Reynaldo Berroya (Ret.), Administrator of the Light Rail Transport Authority (LRTA),” ani Tugade sa Facebook post nito ngayong Lunes.
“On behalf of the entire staff, officers and sectors of the Department of Transportation (DOTr), and also of my own family, I convey my utmost condolences and solicitude to the family and loved ones left behind by Gen Berroya,” sabi pa ni Tugade.
Hindi na nagbigay pa ng ibang detalye si Tugade hinggil sa pagpanaw ni Berroya subalit pinuri niya ito dahil sa aniya, “exceptional leadership” o natatanging pamumuno nito.
“I will always remember Gen. Rey as the officer who commanded with authority, but also with irreverence, wit and humor just to lighten and brighten the issue at hand,” sabi ni Tugade.
Si Berroya ay miyembro ng Presidential Anti-Crime Commission (PACC), na pinamunuan noon ni Vice President Joseph Estrada sa panahon ng (Fidel) Ramos administration.
