Ipinag-utos ng Mandaluyong Court ang pagpapalaya sa journalist-editor na si Lady Ann Salem ng Manila Today at member ng unyon na si Rodrigo Esparago isang buwan matapos ibasura ang kasong illegal possession of firearms and explosives laban sa kanila.
Si Judge Monique Quisumbing-Ignacio ng Mandaluyong City Regional Trial Court Branch 209 ang nag-issue ng naturang kautusan.
Kabilang sina Salem at Esparago sa mga inaresto ng awtoridad noong December 10 kung saan nakuha diumano sa dalawa ang mga ilegal na armas at pampasabog.
Noong nakaraang buwan, ayon sa korte ay walang sapat na basehan para mag-issue ng search warrant sa bahay ng dalawa.
Saad ng Public Interest Law Center na tumayo para dumepensa kina Salem at Esparago, “The order is a breather in the midst of the continuing attacks against journalists and lawyers.
“We hope that the other victims of the trumped up charges resulting from the implementation of this void search warrant will be released from detention also. We will work harder to break the cycle of police abuse in search warrant applications and implementation, and political persecution on the whole.”
