Jawo, Cone at Bolts staff may parangal sa PBAPC Awards

BIBIGYAN ng parangal sa kanilang mga malaking naiambag sa larangan ng Philippine basketball sina legendary player Robert Jaworski, many time awardee coach Tim Cone, at ang coaching staff ng Meralco Bolts sa idaraos na PBA Press Corps annual awards night ngayong Martes ng gabi.


Kinokonsidera si Jaworski na isa sa league's icons para magawaran ng Lifetime Achievement Award. Sa kanyang PBA career, si 'Big J' ay unang naging Most Valuable Player noong 1978 at nagkamit na ng 13 titulo.



Ang Toyota at Barangay Ginebra icon ay kabilang na sa 25 Greatest Players of All-Time ng PBA at nailuklok na rin sa 2005 Hall of Fame. Samantalang si Cone ay pagkakalooban ng President's Award sa malaking achievements niya sa Gilas Pilipinas, kabilang na ang panalo vs. Latvia sa FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament, 89-80.


Ang Meralco coaching staff na binubuo nina head coach Luigi Trillo, active consultant Nenad Vucinic, at deputies Gene Afable, Reynel Hugnatan, at Sandro Soriano, kasama si consultant Norman Black ay tatanggap ng Baby Dalupan Coach of the Year Award nang gabayan ang Bolts para sa Philippine Cup title, ang una sa kanilang prangkisa laban sa San Miguel Beermen.


Ito rin ang first time na ang buong coaching staff binigyan ng recognition. Ang iba pang awardees ay sina SMC sports director Alfrancis Chua (Danny Floro Executive of the Year), Meralco's Cliff Hodge (Defensive Player of the Year), Magnolia's Ian Sangalang at Barangay Ginebra's LA Tenorio (Comeback Player of the Year), at Meralco's Bong Quinto (Mr. Quality Minutes).
