Sa edad na 25 last September 14, ibinahagi ng actor at singer na si Iñigo Pascual ang pag-abot sa kanyang pangarap na maging ganap na Hollywood actor simula nang mai-release ang kanyang first American drama series na Monarch na ngayo'y napapanood na via streaming on iWantTFC.
“I guess I’m just grateful sa lahat ng blessings na dumarating and a lot of good things that have been happening with my life, a lot of things that I never would have expected to happen at this age," masaya niyang bungad.
On Inigo's wish for his birthday, “Siguro, ang mahihingi ko lang is siyempre, more success in my career and that this project will not only bring success to me but also will open doors for the artists in the Philippines to cross over, to be able to share what we have in the Philippines to the world stage.
" I want to be able to share my music internationally. Sana, mas maraming makinig sa kung anong meron sa Pilipinas,” aniya sa ginanap na Monarch online presscon last September 12.
Sinariwa rin ni Iñigo ang naramdamang pag-aalangan while auditioning for the project, which had him being pitted against other American and foreign actors.
“Actually, nu'ng audition ko pa lang, when I did my first callback and nasa Zoom kami nu'n and hindi na mga Pinoy 'yung kasama ko sa Zoom, nakakatakot pala kasi nasanay na ako na mga Pinoy 'yung kaharap ko sa Zoom and 'pag nag-i-English ako and if I mess up, kaya kong mag-Tagalog or something. Pero ngayon, kailangan ko na i-step-up and I have to really do it on my own in a way. Dun pa lang sa point na 'yun, when I first moved to Atlanta, nu'ng una ko pa lang lipat dito, I was scared for myself. Sabi ko, 'Kaya ko ba ‘to? Kaya ko ba 'yung hinaharap ko? 'Yung gagawin ko?'
“Siyempre, sa Pilipinas, 'andu'n 'yung suporta ng mga kasama ko, my management and everyone, my dad (Piolo). But then, all of a sudden, coming into this project, it was like starting from ground zero. I was starting from nothing. No one knows me, no one knows who my dad is and it was scary, of course.
"And I was scared for myself. But it feels good na in a way na mas kaya kong i-show 'yung mas kaya kong ibigay. It’s scary to say that but it makes me feel proud that I’m able to do a project like this where I can showcase my own personality and my own talents and not just be called Piolo’s son,” pahayag ni Iñigo.
Ikinuwento pa nito na noon pang nakaraang taon ang kanyang first taping day, and was extra memorable because it was also on his 24th birthday.
Sinabi rin ng ASAP Natin 'To talented artist na he did not know what to expect sa kanyang first international production.
“Siyempre, 'yung unang-unang araw ko sa set, unang tapak ko, wala akong RM (road manager), wala akong handler na sasama sa akin. I’m on my own and first day ko sa set, hindi ko alam saan tatambay. Hindi ko talaga alam kung saan ako pupunta. Nahihiya akong magtanong.
"And then, after they did my makeup, nakaupo lang ako sa makeup trailer, tapos hanggang sa I needed to use the restroom. And then nu'ng nagtanong ako, ‘Where can I use the restroom?’ Sabi nila sa akin, ‘You have a trailer. Why don’t you use the restroom in your trailer?’ Tapos, natulala ako. Lumabas na ako, tapos tiningnan ko kasi madami talagang trailer sa set namin and hinanap ko 'yung pangalan ko na either Ace or Iñigo. And then I found Ace, and then I entered the trailer and umiyak ako, kasi siyempre, hindi ko in-expect na I would have my own trailer.
“Coming into this na bagong artista, hindi ka anak ni Piolo, wala akong expectations. Hindi ko in-expect na meron akong trailer. Siguro, in-expect ko na meron kaming shared standby area with the other stars that aren’t there yet.
"Pagpasok ko ru'n sa trailer, meron akong TV, meron akong microwave, fridge, couch, may sarili akong banyo. So, umiyak talaga ako and I called my manager. Sabi ko, ‘I have my own trailer, I can’t believe this!’ And pagdating ko sa set, alam mo 'yung mga nakikita mong upuan na may mga pangalan sa likod? I had one of those and nahiya pa ako kasi siyempre, sa Pilipinas, sanay ka na may nagbibigay sa ‘yo ng upuan, tapos ngayon, ibang lahi na 'yung nagbibigay sa akin ng taping chair ko. Nahiya pa ako," natatawa pang kuwento ng aktor.
