Bagama't nag-uwi ng titulong Miss Philippines Tourism sa ginanap na Miss Grand Philippines 2023 pageant nu'ng July 13, 2023 ang dating TV host-turned TV star na si Herlene "Hipon" Budol, malabo namang matupad ang kanyang pangarap na mailaban sa international beauty pageant.
Nilinaw kasi ng manager na si Arnold Vegafria, ang namumuno sa ALV Pageant Circle na may hawak ng Miss Grand Philippines, na walang ugnayan ang naturang local beauty pageant sa Miss Tourism World na gaganapin sa Nobyembre sa London.
Base sa official statement na inilabas ni Vegafria nu'ng Miyerkules (July 19), "ALV Pageant Circle and Miss Grand Philippines would like to clarify that we have not yet issued any official confirmation regarding Miss Grand Philippines Tourism 2023 Herlene Budol's participation in the Miss Tourism World pageant.
"While we acknowledge the achievements of our reigning queen Justine Felizarta as the first runner-up in Miss Tourism World 2022, we would like to clarify that we have since ceased from using the Miss Tourism World Philippines title.
"Our Miss Philippines Tourism title is a generic title with no contractual obligation to any international pageant."
Dagdag pang pahayag, "Henceforth, our choice of global pageant may vary year after year, depending on the ideals and visions of the organization.
"It has never been our intention to instigate any conflict of interest with our fellow pageant organizers whom we regard with mutual respect.
"We are excited to announce that Miss Philippines Tourism 2023 will be competing in a different international tourism pageant, which will we announce very soon."
Samantala, ang nakakuha raw ng franchise deal para sa Miss World Tourism 2023 ay ang Hiyas Pilipinas na pinamumunuan naman ni Mike Sordilla.
Kaya kung sinuman ang mananalong Miss World Tourism Phils. sa Hiyas Pilipinas ang siyang magiging pambato sa gaganaping Miss Tourism World 2023.
Pinag-usapan naman at nag-trending sa social media ang naging sagot ni Herlene sa isang post matapos na hindi niya masungkit ang titulong Miss Grand Philippines 2023.
Feeling daw kasi ng beauty queen-turned TV star, nasayang ang talent niya at opportunity na mai-represent ang bansa sa gaganaping international pageant.
“Kase sinayang ni angkol, kaya sa Miss Tourism tayo ta-tumbling ng bongga,” post pa ni Herlene.
Marami naman ang nagpapayo kay Herlene na 'wag na nitong i-push pa ang pagiging beauty queen at mag-concentrate na lang sa pagiging sexy comedienne dahil du'n siya mas nababagay at puwedeng maging bagong Rufa Mae Quinto na sumikat noon bilang si 'Booba'.
