Healthcare workers, pagod na… Mga ospital, puno na, COVID cases, pataas pa rin

Puno at okupado na ang halos 180 na hospital beds ng Philippine General Hospital, ayon sa pahayag ni Spokesperson Jonas del Rosario ngayong umaga, Marso 16.


Aniya, "We only have 30 beds for our ICU and it’s full. This morning it’s full… We opened 180 beds, this would be almost 30% of our current bed capacity which is pretty much the maximum that we are willing to commit to government because we also have a lot of non-COVID patients we have to attend to."


Dagdag pa niya, mahigit 157 ang mga pasyenteng naka-admit dahil sa COVID-19 kung saan 25% sa kanila ay nakakaranas ng severe conditions, 20% ang critical at 40% naman ang moderate, habang ang iba’y mild patients lamang. Umapela na rin sila sa Department of Health upang mag-deploy ng mga volunteer health workers dahil sa patuloy na pagdami ng mga nagpopositibo sa virus.


"Maybe 20 to 30 will be a good start just to relieve our frontliners. They get tired after a while. According to the ICU doctor, he can sense again fatigue from the trainees," sabi pa ni Del Rosario.


Kaugnay nito, okupado na rin ang mahigit 77% hospital beds ng East Avenue Medical Center kung saan 250 na kama ang nakalaan para sa COVID-19 patients.


Ayon pa kay Medical Chief Dr. Alfonso Nuñez, "The beds allotted for COVID patient, umaabot na sa 77% ang utilization namin, at sa karanasan namin, patuloy pong tumataas ito.” Tinatayang 500 contractual health workers mayroon ang ospital at mahigit 51 sa kanila ang infected ng virus.


Samantala, 60% healthcare workers naman ang nabakunahan na kontra COVID-19 sa EAMC. Sa ngayon ay umabot na sa 5,404 ang karagdagang kaso ng mga nagpositibo sa virus at naitala ang kabuuang bilang na 626,893.
