Bubuksan na sa publiko ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) ang kanilang free solar charging station para sa electric bikes at electric scooters sa Hunyo 27.
Ayon sa MMDA sa isang statement, ang kanilang solar charging station na matatagpuan sa bagong MMDA head office building sa Barangay Ugong, Pasig City ay available mula alas-6:00 ng umaga hanggang alas-7:00 ng gabi.
Paliwanag ni MMDA chairperson Romando Artes, ang proyekto na inilunsad nitong Lunes ay makatutulong na mabawasan ang pasanin ng publiko mula sa pagtaas ng presyo ng produktong petrolyo.
“Putting up free charging stations for electronic vehicles such as e-bikes and e-scooters would encourage the public to use alternative mode of transportation and at the same time help them save expenses from high fuel cost,” saad ni Artes.
Ayon kay Artes, plano niyang magtayo rin ng katulad na charging station sa MMDA headquarters sa Orense, Makati City para i-accommodate naman ang mga bumibiyahe ng EDSA.
Paalala naman ng MMDA na kailangang magdala ng mga users ng sarili nilang charging cords at cables para magamit ito.
Umaabot anila, ang pag-charge ng isang e-bike ng humigit-kumulang sa anim hanggang walong oras depende sa battery ng kanilang sasakyan. Ani MMDA, tatlong solar panels na may built-in inverter ang main power source ng station na may kabuuang anim na 220V charging outlets.
“In case the solar energy harvested will be inadequate to power the e-bikes, the station will tap into the main power grid of the building to compensate for the shortage,” pahayag ng MMDA.
“All excess electricity being harnessed by the solar panels will be distributed back to the building,” dagdag pa nito. Umapela naman si Artes sa mga e-bikers at e-scooter drivers na sumunod sa ibinabang administrative order ng Land Transportation Office (LTO) na Consolidated Guidelines in the Classification, Registration, and Operation of All Types of Electric Motor Vehicles upang matiyak ang kanilang kaligtasan.
