Nagbabala ang Department of Health (DOH) sa publiko sa kumakalat na pekeng contact tracers, na nagsasabing sila ay department personnel, gayundin, nilinaw ng ahensiya na sa kasalukuyan wala silang binuong grupo na magsasagawa ng contact tracing.
Ayon sa statement na na-post sa Facebook ng DOH, nakatanggap ang departamento ng reports na may mga tumatawag, nagbibigay din ng mensahe at sinasabing miyembro sila ng DOH Contact Tracing Team.
“This is to inform the public of a new scheme fraudulently misrepresenting the [DOH]. We have received reports of citizens getting calls from certain individuals misrepresenting themselves as members of the DOH Contact Tracing Team,” ayon sa statement ng DOH.
“The public is reminded that DOH does not have a ‘contact tracing team’. If they introduce themselves as part of the LGU Contact Tracing Team, please verify basic information and ensure that they have been referred by your Barangay Health Emergency Response Team (BHERTs),” dagdag na pahayag.
Samantala, nakikipagtulungan na ang DOH sa Philippine National Police (PNP) at sa National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) upang imbestigahan ang ganitong pangyayari, kung saan sinasamantala ng mga taong sangkot at ginagamit ang health crisis upang malaman ang mga personal information ng iba at makapag-extort sa kanila ng pera.
Pinapayuhan rin ng ahensiya ang lahat na iwasan ang pagte-text back at pagbibigay ng personal information sa mga pekeng contact tracers. Kapag ito ay tumawag o nagbigay ng mensahe, kinakailangan i-save ang numero ng fake contact tracers saka i-block ito.
