Disqualification cases ni Marcos, ibinasura na ng Comelec First Division

Bumoto para i-dismiss ang Commission on Elections (Comelec) First Division sa tatlong consolidated disqualification cases na inihain laban kay presidential candidate dating Senador Ferdinand “Bongbong/BBM” Marcos Jr., ito ang kinumpirma ni Commissioner Aimee Ferolino ngayong araw.


Ayon kay Comelec spokesman James Jimenez, ibinasura na ng division ang mga petisyon nina Bonifacio Ilagan, Abubakar Mangelen, at Akbayan dahil aniya, “for lack of merit.”


Batay sa mga petitioners, hindi dapat payagan si Marcos na tumakbo sa pagka-pangulo dahil siya ay na-convict sa paglabag sa Internal Revenue Code, kung saan anila, “carried a penalty of perpetual disqualification from holding any public office.”


Ipinunto nila na noong 1995, “a Quezon City court convicted Marcos for not filing his income tax return from 1982-1984. The conviction was upheld by the Court of Appeals but removed the imprisonment sentence.”


Ayon pa sa kanila si Marcos ay hindi umapela sa ruling.


Samantala, ang resolution ng First Division ay ipinahayag ilang sandali bago mag-alas-5:00 ng hapon ngayong Huwebes, ang ikatlong araw ng national election campaign period.
