'Captain Von Trapp' ng The Sound of Music, pumanaw na sa edad na 91

Pumanaw na noong Biyernes ang Canadian actor na si Christopher Plummer na mas kilala sa kanyang pagganap bilang si Captain von Trapp sa blockbuster 1965 musical na "The Sound of Music".


Ayon sa kanyang manager na si Lou Pitt, “Chris was an extraordinary man who deeply loved and respected his profession with great old fashion manners, self-deprecating humor and the music of words.


"He was a National Treasure who deeply relished his Canadian roots. Through his art and humanity, he touched all of our hearts and his legendary life will endure for all generations to come."


Ayon naman sa asawa ni Plummer na si Elaine Taylor, head injury ang ikinamatay nito sa kanilang bahay sa Connecticut.


Si Plummer ay binansagang “Triple Crown of Acting” matapos magwagi ng Oscar, Emmy, at Tony awards sa iba’t ibang ginampanang karakter sa larangan ng film, television at theater.


Noong 1954 ay nagsimula ang career ni Plummer sa theater kung saan lumalabas na rin siya sa ilang televised plays.


Noong 1959, na-nominate si Plummer para sa Tony Awards dahil sa kanyang pagganap bilang si Satan sa “J.B.” na adaptation ng Biblical story.


Sa kaparehong taon ay na-nominate si Plummer sa Emmy Awards sa TV play na “Little Moon of Alban.”


Noong 2011 naman, napanalunan ni Plummer ang Oscar Awards sa kanyang pagganap sa “The Beginners” kung saan siya ang itinanghal na oldest winner sa edad na 82.


Kabilang din sa mga palabas kung saan tumatak ang pangalan ni Plummer sa industriya ay ang “Waterloo,” “The Man Who Would Be King,” at “The Last Station.”
