Inanunsiyo ni Dept. of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año na si Lieutenant General Camilo Cascolan ang susunod na hepe ng Philippine National Police (PNP) kapalit ni General Archie Gamboa na magreretiro na ngayong Miyerkules.
Aniya, “He [Cascolan] is the new chief PNP. PRRD [President Rodrigo Roa Duterte] has just signed his appointment paper.”
Saad pa ni Año, “Ang pamantayan ni Pangulo, seniority. Gusto niya, inirerespeto ang seniority as long as qualified naman 'yung senior. Binibigyan ng pagkakataon.
“I want General Cascolan to lead the PNP to fight vs. Covid-19 and of course, kahit na pandemic, dapat tuloy ang laban sa crimes against drugs, terrorists. Importante riyan na even with the pandemic, the people would feel protected and secure.
“I also don't want any abuses in the PNP. Kailangang labanan pa rin ni General Cascolan ang scalawags within the organization.”
Mensahe naman ni Año kay Gamboa, “I'd like to congratulate Gen. Archie Gamboa for a very successful term as CPNP under his sterling leadership. The PNP has become a very strong pillar in the fight against the pandemic. So I salute and commend, congratulate him. I wish him the best in his next chapter.”
Si Gamboa ay nagsilbi bilang PNP OIC noong October, 2019 bilang kapalit ni Gen. Oscar Albayalde. Itinalaga siya ni P-Duterte bilang PNP chief noong January ngayong taon.
