Ini-reveal ng boyfriend ni Nadine Lustre na si Christophe Bariou na nagkaroon siya ng cancer three years ago.
Panimula ni Christophe sa kanyang Instagram post, “This was something I never thought I’d share at all on social media. Maybe I never did because I preferred not to be seen as the victim or to use this illness to appeal for pity.
“And while I was successfully overcoming it, I saw many around me losing their lives trying to, so it didn’t feel right to talk about myself.
“But around 3 years ago, I was diagnosed with cancer and I was told I only had a few weeks left to live. I experienced the darkest sensation of fear, which is something I thought I had already known because it wasn’t the first time I was in a life-threatening situation.
“But this was different. The enemy was invisible and deep inside my own body — a body that I never doubted before, at the age of 27.”
Nu'ng una raw ay natakot siya, “I was scared but I was also angry and frustrated at life. I thought, I’ll never have kids, my own family, or finish what I started in Siargao. I will never get my first barrel surfing.”
Natanong din daw niya ang sarili, “Why is this happening to me? Why me?! I felt so full of life and suddenly finding out I had a couple weeks left to live was devastating… to say the least."
Pero imbes na magmukmok, ginawa niya ang lahat ng makakapagpasaya sa kanya.
“Live the best I could out of my last days and not even bother trying to cure myself since I thought there was not much hope left.”
Pero nang malaman daw niya sa ibang doktor na may chance pa siyang magamot, "I had to drop everything, leave immediately, and go back to France to a specialized hospital.”
Nadiskubre raw ng mga doktor na may rare type of lymphoma siya (isang uri ng kanser na nagmumula sa mga selulang puting dugo na tinatawag na mga lymphocyte).
Nabanggit din ni Christophe na sa sobrang bihira ng case niya, wala raw lumalabas na mga statistics na nagpapakita na may chance of survival ang taong tatamaan nito.
Pero kahit na ganu’n ay hindi pa rin nawalan ng pag-asa si Christophe at sinimulan na nga nito ang anim na buwang pagpapagamot niya.
“Not only was I lucky enough to benefit from the best treatments available from the leading cancer research center in Europe, but all of this was completely free of charge. Thanks to the rights the French fought for. It just makes me think how unfair it can be in other countries
when something as bad as this hit.”
Pagkatapos daw ng kanyang dalawang buwan na pag-undergo ng chemotherapy at immunotherapy, "I was full remission. Live and let live.”
Nagpasalamat siya sa mga taong sumuporta sa kanya, “I can never thank enough everyone who supported me during these tough times — my partner at the time, my family and my friends.”

“Full remission na siya pero hindi pa cancer-free. Usually, 5 years or more pa bago masasabi ng doctor na cancer-free na. Regularly pa rin siya nagpapa-check-up. Ka-age lang pala siya ni Nadine? Sana nga ay silang dalawa na ang magkatuluyan.”
“Wow in two months only? Tapos rare pa?! It's a miracle!”
“OMG! I'm really surprised by this. Praying that he recovers and will be healed soon. He seems like a good fit for Nadine.”
May isa namang nakaalala sa dating panayam ni Nadine kung saan sinabi nitong ayaw niyang magbuntis at magkaanak at mag-aampon na lang kung saka-sakali.
“Mukhang he’s a family man and wants to have his own sa future. ‘Wag sana siyang paasahin ni Nadine na very vocal na ayaw magkaanak,” sey ng netizen.
