53 riders na may substandard helmet, tinikitan

Umabot sa 53 motorcycle riders ang natikitan ng mga awtoridad dahil sa paggamit ng mga ito ng substandard nutshell helmets, ayon sa report ng Inter-Agency Council for Traffic (I-ACT) ngayong Huwebes.


Isinagawa kahapon ng I-ACT ang operasyon at traffic enforcement sa kahabaan ng Cayetano Avenue, Barangay Ususan sa Taguig City, kung saan nahuli ang mga lumabag na riders.


“Most of the motorists who have been halted during this operation have been caught using substandard helmets, or ‘nutshell helmets’,” sabi ng isang kawani ng I-ACT.


Ang paggamit ng nutshell helmets ay isang paglabag sa Republic Act 10054 o ang Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009. Sa nasabing operasyon, nahuli rin ang isang rider na hindi suot ang helmet at nakasukbit lang sa kanyang braso.


Na-impound naman ang jeep ng isang driver dahil nag-o-operate nang walang rehistradong QR Code permit, ayon sa I-ACT.


“With violations such as the ones mentioned above, the Council maintains its stringent alertness to keep on the lookout for motorists who violate other traffic policies and public transportation health protocols,” pahayag ng I-ACT.


“The I-ACT strongly upholds its steadfast enforcement of road worthiness measures, RA 4136, otherwise known as ‘Land Transportation Code’, and the 7 Commandments of Public Transportation by the Department of Transportation (DOTr),” dagdag nito.


Ayon pa sa I-ACT, may kabuuang 62 violations at limang na-impound na mga sasakyan ang nai-record matapos ang operasyon.
