May kabuuang 328 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) ang pinalaya ngayong Lunes mula sa iba’t ibang prisons at penal farms, ayon sa Bureau of Correction (BuCor).
Batay sa datos ng BuCor, mayroong 118 na napalayang inmates mula sa New Bilibid Prison habang 76 PDLs mula naman sa Davao Prison and Penal Farm.
Samantala, sa 328 inmates, 129 ang released on parole, 154 ang nagsilbi ng kanilang maximum sentence with good conduct and time allowance, 8 ang acquitted, at iba pa.
Nasa 15 din ang nagsilbi ng kanilang maximum sentence with GCTA at ini-release sa ilalim ng Department Order No. 953.
Nakasaad sa ilalim ng department order, “the release of PDLs sentenced to life imprisonment or reclusion perpetual or high-risk inmates shall only be Implemented with the approval of the Justice Secretary.”
Gayundin, sa datos lumabas na may kabuuang 33 senior citizens ang pinalaya.
Dinaluhan ang culminating program ni Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla, Public Attorneys Office (PAO) chief Persida Acosta, at BuCor officer-in-charge Gregorio Catapang Jr.
