Isang laban na lang ang nalalabi para kay dating UFC lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos na nakasaad sa kanyang kontrata sa organisasyon at napipisil ang rematch sa isang fighter na kasusungkit pa lamang ng korona at maaaring panghuling laban na niya ito sa octagon.
Nagpapatuloy si Dos Anjos sa kanyang training sa bahay sa San Diego, California katuwang si coach Jason Parillo at ilang training partners kabilang na ang kapwa UFC fighter Benell Dariush na parehong na-lockdown sa gitna ng health crisis dulot ng COVID-19 pandemic. Naghihintay pa ng tawag ang Brazilian para mai-booked sa susunod niyang laban at mapag-usapan na ang bagong deal sa UFC at maari nang sumabak nitong Hunyo.
“I want to fight. I fought in January, so June or July would be good dates,” ayon kay dos Anjos sa MMA Fighting. "I’m going for the last fight in my contract with the UFC, so we have to see if the UFC wants to re-sign me. It’s a bunch of things.”
Sinimulan ng Niterol native ang kanyang UFC career noong nakaraang 10 taon nang unang makuha ang 155-pound gold noong 2015. Isang welterweight noong 2017, aniya, handa siyang lumagda ng bagong kontrata bago aakyat sa octagon.
“I’m in the UFC for many years, since 2008, and the UFC is a very solid company,” aniya. “I have a great relationship with Dana White. I have almost 30 fights in the organization, and I would like to re-sign with the UFC. That’s what I want, but it’s not only up to me, it’s up to them as well, if they want to re-sign me.”
