ISINUSULONG ngayon ni 1-PACMAN Partylist Rep. Michael “Mikee” Romero ang bill na naglalayong protektahan ang mga karapatan ng mga actors, para hindi na maulit ang nangyari sa stepdad niyang veteran actor na si Eddie Garcia na naaksidente habang nasa shooting na naging sanhi ng pagkamatay nito.
Ayon sa Facebook post ni Rep. Romero, tatawaging Eddie Garcia Law o Actors’ Occupational Safety and Health Standards Act ang bill na kanyang isusulong.
“The “Eddie Garcia Bill” will be a means to safeguard the welfare and well-being of all actors working in the television and/or in the movie industries,” paliwanag ni Rep. Romero.
Ayon sa congressman, ito ang unang bill na isusulong niya para sa upcoming 18th Congress kaya humingi siya ng suporta sa mga kasamahang kongresista.
Narito ang main points ng proposed law.
1. Mandatory Actors and Production Insurance coverage
2. Specific Working Hours for (8-12 hours maximum):
a) Below 18 years old, b) 18-59 years old and c) 60 years old and above (Senior Citizen).
3. Medical Safety Procedures on production set and within its area of responsibility
4. Mandatory Installation of Safety Officers within its area of responsibility
5. Emergency Standards and Procedures
6. Penalties and Liabilities for Violation
