Japan at Australia, suportado ang ‘Pinas sa WPS

Napagkasunduan ng Japan at Pilipinas ang pagkakaisa sa pagpapanatili ng kapayapaan sa Asia-Pacific region at nagpahayag naman ang Australia ng suporta sa pagkapanalo ng bansa sa 2016 arbitral ruling sa West Philippine Sea (WPS).

Pahayag ng Japanese Embassy, “(Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga) expressed his opposition to the continued and strengthened unilateral attempts to change the status quo in the East China Sea and the South China Sea.

“(Suga) shared grave concerns about recent developments in China, including the Coast Guard Law.”

Pahayag naman ni Australian Ambassador Steven Robinson, “We are strong supporters of the arbitral award. And of course, we hold with the Philippines’ position as outlined at the UN.”

Ayon din kay Robinson, dapat sundin ng China ang United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea kung saan maaaring dumaan sa South China Sea ang mga barko ng iba’t ibang bansa para sa kalakalan.

Aniya ay 65% ng international trade ng Australia ang dumadaan sa South China Sea.

Saad pa ni Robinson, “Australia has taken a very long-standing principled position about the South China Sea. It’s really important to us that there will be unimpeded trade and freedom of navigation… There have been rules and norms and laws that have been put in place after many years subscribed to by basically all countries in the world that support a rules-based approach to the law of the sea… governing how we all use those critical waterways, not just in the South China Sea but all international waterways.”

Duterte at mga dating pangulo ng 'Pinas, joint forces sa WPS

Planong makipagpulong ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa mga dating lider ng bansa upang pag-usapan ang sigalot sa West Philippine Sea (WPS), ayon kay Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.

Una nang hiniling ni dating Senador Rodolfo Biazon kay P-Duterte na makipagpulong sa National Security Council (NSC) upang linawin at pag-usapan ang posisyon ng pangulo sa WPS.

Pahayag naman ni Roque, “Actually, nabanggit po sa akin iyan ni Presidente. Ang problema roon sa NSC, sa personal niyang karanasan na nakaka-attend siya, iyong NSC, walang nare-resolve. So, kung kinakailangan, iniisip niyang imbitahin ang mga dating presidente, ilang mga personalidad para magkaroon ng isang pagpupulong, ‘no, to discuss the issue.

“'Yung mga issue na tinatalakay kasama ang NSC, wala namang resolusyon na nangyayari kaya bakit pa kung puwede naman ‘yang gawin sa informal consultation?”

Iginiit din ni Roque na mananatili ang posisyon at polisiya ni P-Duterte sa usapin sa WPS at sisiguraduhin din umano ng pangulo na walang mawawalang teritoryo ng Pilipinas sa kanyang panunungkulan.

Aniya, “Wala pong confusing sa stand ng presidente sa WPS. Ang hindi pupuwedeng mapagkasunduan, isasantabi muna, isusulong ang mga bagay-bagay na puwedeng maisulong kagaya ng kalakalan at pamumuhunan.

"Pero hinding-hindi tayo mamimigay ng teritoryo at paninindigan at pangangalagaan natin ang pang-nasyonal na soberanya at ang ating mga sovereign rights.”

WPS, bawal nang pag-usapan — Duterte

Pinagbawalan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang mga opisyal ng bansa na maglabas ng sariling pananaw tungkol sa sigalot sa West Philippine Sea (WPS) sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at China.

Pahayag ni P-Duterte, "So, this is my order now to the Cabinet and to all - all and sundry... talking for the government to refrain discussing West Philippine Sea with...anybody.

"If we have to talk, we talk and it would just be among us and there is one spokesman - (Presidential Spokesman) Secretary Harry (Roque) will do it. Now you get the picture."

Sa naganap naman na press briefing ni Roque, kinumpirma niya na tanging sila lamang ni Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. ang maaaring maglabas ng pahayag tungkol sa isyu sa WPS.

Aniya, "That’s the decision of the president... And as I said, it’s covered by traditional exception to freedom of information."

Madalas maglabas ng updates ang National Task Force (NTF) WPS tungkol sa presensiya ng mga barko ng China, kabilang na ang mga militia vessels sa WPS.

Nang matanong si Roque tungkol sa pag-a-update ng NTF-WPS, aniya, “Well, you know, reports of the NTF are forwarded to the DFA and they would determine if they will file diplomatic protest. So, these are matters, facts, which are relevant to diplomatic communications covered by executive privilege.

"So, although there is transparency, an exception to transparency are diplomatic communications and that includes also inputs which form the basis of diplomatic communication.”

Samantala, nilinaw naman ni P-Duterte na mananatili pa rin ang pagpapatrolya ng awtoridad sa WPS.

Aniya pa, “Our agencies have been directed to do what they must and should to protect and defend our nation’s interest.

“We will not waver in our position.”
