Parehong nakuha ng defending champions National University Lady Bulldogs at Adamson University Lady Falcons ang tig-isang silya sa Final 4 nang matapos lalong ibaon ang UE Lady Warriors sa 25-5, 25-15, 25-13 at UP Lady Maroons sa 25-20, 27-25, 23-25, 25-15, sa magkahiwalay na laro kahapon sa nalalapit na pagtatapos ng second round ng preliminaries ng 85th season ng University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) women’s volleyball tournament sa SM Mall of Asia Arena sa Pasay City.
Maagang nilampaso ng Lady Bulldogs ang walang panalong Lady Warriors sa first set na naitala ang pinakamalaking bentahe ngayong season sa 25-5, kung saan hawak din ng UE ang pinakamaliit na iskor sa isang set sa 2-25 laban sa UST Golden Tigresses noong 2011.
Muling nagbida para sa Lady Bulldogs si reigning Rookie/MVP Mhicaela “Bella” Belen sa 21 puntos mula sa 13 atake, 2 blocks at 6 aces, kasama ang anim na excellent receptions, habang nag-ambag naman sina Alyssa Solomon ng walo at Evangeline Alinsug ng 6 puntos na nagawang makapuntos ng lahat ng ipinasok na manlalaro.
“We’re happy na nakakapaglaro na yung ibang players and mas maraming nagco-contribute sa team and mas confident kami ngayon na makakapaglaro kami ng magandang set kase sa training pa lang ibinibgay na yung lahat ng effort,” wika ni Belen, na naghahandang makatapat ang UST Golden Tigresses sa Miyerkules at Ateneo Blue Eagles sa susunod na Sabado.
Lumista naman ng panibagong all-around performance ang beteranong si Lucille May Almonte para sa Adamson matapos ang ikalawang sunod na triple-double na rehistro upang tulungang maputol ang kanilang two-game losing skid, sa pagtatala ng tinaguriang “Ms. Everything” sa 13 puntos, galing lahat sa atake.
