Pumanaw na si retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Minita Chico-Nazario, ayon sa High Court ngayong Biyernes.

“The Supreme Court and the entire Judiciary join the loved ones of the late Hon. Justice Minita V. Chico-Nazario in mourning her death," batay sa statement.

“We offer our sincere and deep condolences and prayers. Justice Nazario will always be remembered as one of those who broke barriers in the history of the Philippine Judiciary,” dagdag pang pahayag.

Si Nazario ang unang babae na naging Presiding Justice ng Pilipinas sa anti-graft court. Siya rin ang unang Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice na na-promote para sa top tribunal ng bansa.

Bilang Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice, nilagdaan ni Nazario ang isang health insurance contract para matiyak na mayroong mga hospitalization benefits ang mga empleyado ng korte.

Nilagdaan din ni Nazario ang katulad na contract na may health maintenance organization para makatulong sa pangangailangang pangkalusugan ng mga Supreme Court Justices, opisyal, at empleyado nang siya ay makapasok dito. Matapos ang kanyang retirement, nagsilbi si Nazario bilang Dean ng College of Law ng University of Perpetual Help System DALTA sa Las Piñas City.

Bago pa magsilbi sa judiciary, si Nazario ay isang social secretary ng noo’y si Justice Secretary Juan Liwag mula 1962 hanggang 1963.

Nagsilbi rin siya bilang clerk sa City Fiscal’s Office sa Manila at Special Deputy Clerk of Court sa Court of First Instance sa Pasay. Isang tubong San Miguel, Bulacan, si Justice Nazario ay nagtapos ng law school sa University of the Philippines (UP) noong 1962.

Dahil sa paglabag sa honor code... Ilang Bar examinees na-disqualified – SC

Ilang Bar examinees ang na-disqualified dahil sa paglabag sa mga polisiya na naitakda at nai-post ng Office of the Bar Chairperson at kanilang honor code, ayon sa Supreme Court ngayong Linggo.

Sa isang Bar bulletin, ibinunyag ni Associate Justice Marvic Leonen na ilang examinees ang nakapasok sa local testing centers nang hindi idineklara na sila ay tinamaan ng coronavirus, aniya, “they had previously been infected with COVID-19, smuggled mobile phones inside the examination rooms and accessed social media during lunch break inside the premises.”

“For their infractions, I am exercising my prerogative as Bar Chairperson to disqualify these examinees from the 2020/21 Bar Examinations. I take my constant message of honor to the examinees seriously,” pahayag ni Leonen.

“I owe it not only to those who risked their lives just to make the 2020/21 Bar Examinations happen despite all odds, but most especially to those examinees who could have taken the Bar Examinations were it not for their positive COVID-19 test results,” dagdagng associate justice.

Gayunman, ayon sa opisyal, ang kanilang disqualification ay para lamang sa 2020/21 Bar Examinations.

“For now, reflect on what you have done, but know that you can still change your narrative. You will not end up as the examiner who lost your honor forever in your desperation to pass an examination. Learn from your mistake, and earn your honor back,” payo ni Leonen sa mga na-disqualified na examinees.

Sinabi rin ni Leonen na mayroong 219 Bar examinees na hindi nakakuha ng exams dahil na sila ay nagpositibo sa test sa COVID-19.

Inisyal na nakaiskedyul ang Bar exams noong Enero 23 at 25, 2022, subalit iniurong ng Pebrero 4 at 6, 2022 dahil na rin sa pag-iingat laban sa coronavirus.

May mga health workers naman sa mga Bar exam venue entrances para kumuha ng body temperature ng mga examinees at upang tiyakin na nasusunod ang minimum health at safety protocols.

Inanunsiyo ng Supreme Court ngayong Lunes na papayagan na ngayon ang mga Bar examinees na gamitin ang kanilang laptops para sa ilang tinatawag na last-minute studying o huling-minutong pag-aaral.

Sa isang bar bulletin, ipinahayag ni SC Associate Justice at Bar Exam chairperson Marvic Leonen na ang mga reviewers ay dapat na i-saved sa local folders at hindi ito dapat downloadable mula sa kanilang clouds.

“Once done with the security and health check, examinees may open their laptops to access their files for any last-minute studying,” sabi ni Leonen. “Examinees may also review their own files during lunch breaks,” dagdag ng opisyal.

Ayon kay Leonen, hindi papayagan ang mga examinees na mag-share ng kanilang computer screens o files. Una nang ipinagbawal sa mga examinees na gamitin ang kanilang mga laptops maliban sa tinatawag na Examplify sa panahon ng test proper.

“Each examinee is responsible for the safekeeping of their laptops. The Supreme Court shall not be liable should they spill anything on their laptops or do any damage that might render the laptops unusable for the succeeding exams,” ani Leonen.

Sinabi rin ni Leonen na ang mga examinees ay hindi papayagan na mag-avail ng isang backup computer, sakaling ang kanilang laptops ay hindi magamit sanhi ng aksidente.

Aniya, lahat ng reviewers at iba pang law-related files ay dapat nang isara 30 minuto bago ang mga unang bell na mag-ring ng alas-7:30 ng umaga at alas-1:30 ng hapon.

“The policy against talking to other examinees still stands,” saad ni Leonen na sabi pa niya, ang 2-metro na distansiya mula sa isa’t isa ay mahigpit nilang ipatutupad.

Ayon pa kay Leonen, nananatiling ipinagbabawal sa mga examinees na kumonekta sa internet sa lahat ng oras maliban kung awtorisado gayundin, gumamit ng kanilang laptops para sa social media kapag nakapasok na sila sa loob ng testing centers.

Giit naman ni Leonen na ang cheating o pandaraya ay awtomatikong magreresulta sa disqualification ng examinee mula sa 2020/21 Bar Examinations at sa darating pang bar examinations.

“Any form of cheating will not be tolerated. Anyone who will be caught violating these rules will be automatically disqualified from the 2020/21 Bar Examinations and future bar examinations. No second chances will be given for any breach of the Honor Code,” pahayag ni Leonen.

“It is not only lawyering that requires integrity, living humanely requires it as well. Serve our people with honor and excellence,” sabi pa ni Leonen.
