Hirit na TRO, ibinasura ng SC.. SIM registration, tuloy

Ibinasura ng Korte Suprema ang petisyong nagnanais na maharang ang implementasyon ng SIM Registration Act.

Sa pulong balitaan, sinabi ni Supreme Court spokesperson Atty. Brian Keith Hosaka na hindi pinagbigyan ng SC ang hirit na temporary restraining order (TRO).

Sa halip, inatasan lang ng SC ang mga respondent na maghain ng komento sa petisyon sa loob ng 10 araw.

Kabilang sa mga respondent sa kaso ang National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), at mga telco.

Sa inihaing petition for TRO, hiniling ng petitioners na ideklarang unconstitutional ang SIM Registration Law.

Disqualification at COC cancellation petitions kay Marcos, ibinasura na ng SC

Nagkakaisang ibinasura ng Supreme Court (SC) ngayong Martes, ang mga petisyon para idiskwalipika at ikansela ang certificate of candidacy (COC) ni President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., ng May 2022 elections.

May botong 13-0, ayon sa high court, nabatid na si Marcos ay qualified na tumakbo at mahalal sa public office. “Likewise, his COC, being valid and in accord with the pertinent law, was rightfully upheld by the Comelec (Commission on Elections),” pahayag ng SC sa isang press briefer.

Ayon sa SC, “Justice Henri Inting and Justice Antonio Kho did not take part in the deliberations as Inting’s sibling is incumbent Comelec Commissioner Socorro Inting while Kho is a former Comelec commissioner.”

Gayundin anila, ang member-in-charge ay si Justice Rodil Zalameda. Matatandaan na nais ng isang grupo ng mga petitioners na alisin si Marcos sa May 2022 presidential race dahil sa kabiguan nitong mag-file ng income tax returns (ITRs) mula 1982 hanggang 1985, kung saan anila ay katumbas ng moral turpitude at ground para sa disqualification, ang nagtungo sa Supreme Court noong Mayo matapos na ibinasura ng Comelec ang kanilang mga petisyon.

Isa pang grupo ng mga petitioners na binubuo ng mga Martial Law survivor ang naghain din ng isang petisyon na humihimok naman sa SC na ideklarang perpetually disqualified si Marcos mula sa public office at hindi maaaring tumakbo kahit pa sa pinakamababang elective position.

Gayunman, si Marcos na anak ng yumaong dating Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Sr. ay pinalad na manalo noong May 2022 elections, kung saan nagkaroon ng mahigit na 31 milyong boto, habang nakatakdang manumpa bilang ika-17 pangulo ng Pilipinas sa Huwebes, Hunyo 30.
