3,000 OFWs, oks nang lumipad pa-Israel

Inalis na ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) ang suspension order sa deployment ng mga migrant workers sa Israel at inaasahang makabibiyahe na papunta sa nasabing bansa ang tinatayang nasa 3,000 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), ayon kay Secretary Silvestre Bello III.

Noong Mayo, maaalalang sinuspinde ng DOLE ang deployment sa mga migrant workers sa Israel dahil sa alitan sa pagitan ng mga Israeli at Palestinians sa Gaza.

Ayon kay Bello, inalis na ang naturang suspensiyon dahil maayos na ang sitwasyon sa nasabing bansa.

Ani Bello sa teleradyo interview, "'Yung assessment ng Labor attaché namin sa Israel na medyo tumahimik na ang sitwasyon doon at ligtas na ‘yung ating mga OFWs.

"That and an advisory from our Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) na OK na at lifted na ‘yung kanilang alert Level 3, so puwede nang magpadala. And therefore, on that basis, I issued a directive na i-allow na ang pagde-deploy ng ating mga kababayan sa Israel.

"Ang daming kailangan doon na caregivers, hotel workers at farm workers."

Saad pa ni Bello, “Siguro anytime now, mag-aalisan na ang mga… at the very least, mga 3,000. Nakatengga nga ‘yan dahil du’n sa temporary suspension. So anytime now, aalis na ‘yung ating mga kababayan na matagal nang naghihintay ng kanilang deployment.”

OFWs pa-Saudi, puwede na uli

Binawi ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) ang temporary suspension sa deployment ng mga overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) papuntang Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), batay kay DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III ngayong araw, May 29.

Aniya, "After receipt of the official communication from the Saudi government this morning which ensures us that the foreign employers and agencies will shoulder the costs of institutional quarantine and other COVID protocols upon arrival in the KSA, the temporary suspension of deployment to the Kingdom is hereby lifted.”

Inabisuhan na rin ni Bello ang Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) upang ipatupad ‘immediately’ ang pagbawi sa naunang desisyon, sapagkat naging malinaw na sa kanila na KSA employers ang magbabayad sa 10-day quarantine at iba pang quarantine protocol requirements ng mga OFWs na ide-deploy sa Saudi, at hindi ang mismong OFW.

Giit pa ni POEA Administrator Bernand Olalia, “Ipinaliwanag na po nila na hindi dapat kasama ang OFWs doon sa travel advisory kung saan may pananagutan na mag-institutional quarantine, at magbayad ng COVID-19 tests at insurance coverage.”

Matatandaan namang mahigit 400 Saudi-bound OFWs ang na-stranded sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) nitong Biyernes dahil sa deployment suspension.

"I understand that the suspension order drew confusion and irritation among our affected departing OFWs. Again, I apologize for the inconvenience and momentary anguish that it may have caused our dear OFWs. It was to the best interest of our OFWs that such decision had to be made," sabi pa ni Bello.

Mga nars sa pribadong ospital, pinag-i-strike ni Sec. Bello

Hinikayat ni Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Silvestre Bello III ang mga nurses sa pribadong sektor lalo na ang mga nagtatrabaho sa mga 5-star hospitals na magsagawa ng protesta upang ipaglaban ang kanilang propesyon.

Nagbabayad umano ang ilang mga nurses sa mga ospital para magkaroon ng experience at makapagtrabaho sa ibang bansa. Saad ni Bello, "That's why I encourage nurses to go on strike para hindi maka-operate itong mga 5-star hospital. Ang lalaki ng hospital, ang lalaki ng kita nila pagkatapos ang nurses nila, may nagbabayad P6,000 a month, P10,000 a month... Sinasabihan ko 'yung nurses go on strike. Raise the value of your profession.

"Iyun lamang nurses sa private sector na hindi lang underpaid, they are also exploited.” Pinag-aaralan na rin umano ni Bello na taasan ang suweldo ng mga medical workers sa pampribadong ospital.

Aniya, "I agree 100 percent with our nurses that they are underpaid and that is the reason why we came up with a proposal recommending the raising of the salaries of nurses and medical workers in the private sector to the level of nurses and medical workers in the public sector.”
