Pagsabak sa Thailand at Hanoi ang target para sa mga mapipiling lalargang siklista sa Clark Freeport Zone bukas sa idaraos na PhilCycling National Trials for Road kung saan dalawang team elite riders ng bansa ang nakataya ang slot mula rito para maging national team sa dalawang regional competitions sa mga bansang nabanggit ngayong taon.
Ang women’s 17.1-km individual time trial (ITT) ay babanat sa two-day trials, isa sa major criteria para maging national team members ng 8:30 a.m., kasunod ng men’s 24.6-km ITT. Ang men’s and women’s criterium ay gagawin ng tanghali sa Clark Parade Grounds.
“Clark will not only be the epicenter of cycling, but of the entire Philippine sports this weekend as we conduct the trials amid strict health and safety protocols,” ayon kay Philippine Olympic Committee President Rep. Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino . “And with these trials, we hope to show everyone that sports is capable of coming back.”
Nakaiskedyul naman sa Linggo ang road races na 98.40 kms for women at 147.60 kms for men na itinaguyod din ng Standard Insurance, Smart at MVP Sports Foundation, May kabuuang 111 cyclists, 98 men at 13 women ang sasabak sa trials na suportado ng Go for Gold at Chooks-to-Go.
Magpapadala ang Pilipinas ng riders sa Asian Road Cycling Championships sa August 16 to 23 sa Rayong, Thailand, at sa 31st Southeast Asian Games sa November 21 to December 2 sa Vietnam. Nasa ilalim ng bubble environment ang karera alinsunod sa utos ng Central Luzon Regional Task Force, Office of Civil Defense, DO, PNP, Province of Pampanga at Tourism Dept.
