Fully vaxxed health workers, puwede nang magpa-booster shot

Inanunsiyo ng Department of Health na maaari nang magpa-booster doses ang mga fully-vaccinated health workers, simula Nov. 17, 2021.

Sa inilabas na advisory, inirekomenda ng DOH ang paggamit ng Moderna, Pfizer, at Sinovac vaccine regardless kung ano man ang naunang itinurok na bakuna, base sa emergency use authorization na in-issue ng Food and Drug Administration.

Sinabi rin ng health department na io-offer bilang booster ang Sinovac para sa mga nabakunahan ng naturang Covid vaccine.

Nakatakdang ilabas ng National Vaccine Operations Center ang guidelines ngayong araw, ayon sa DOH.

Labing-isang volunteer doctors ng Philippine General Hospital ang hindi na nag-renew ng kontrata, ayon sa pamunuan ng ospital.

Dahil dito, matindi raw ang kakulangan nila ngayon sa tauhan, lalo't ang PGH ang pangunahing COVID-19 referral facility sa bansa.

"It’s so hard to open up more beds or open up more wards if you do not have the right doctors to take care of them. A lot of our patients are severely ill so they really demand specialists... Para tayong nasa giyera, we need more, we need to add more soldiers," ani Dr. Jonas Del Rosario, tagapagsalita ng PGH.

Ayon sa PGH, alam na ng Department of Health ang problema at handa naman daw ito na sagutin ang sahod ng mga kukunin nilang doktor, ngunit hindi rin madali ngayong mag-hire lalo’t maraming reklamo sa kompensasyon.

"Buwis-buhay 'yung ginagawa nila so they really want them to be compensated and then you hear stories na even the basic hazard pay and their SRAs (special risk allowance) delayed pa. So nagpa-pile up po 'yan, napapagod sila physically, emotionally... I think bottomline is at least taasan mo man lang 'yung suweldo for now, itong during the pandemic," hirit ni Del Rosario.

Sampung volunteer doctors mula sa Department of Health (DOH) ang nagbitiw na sa Philippine General Hospital (PGH), sa kabila na nasa full capacity ang ospital dahil sa pagdami ng COVID-19 patients.

Hindi binanggit ni PGH spokesperson Dr. Jonas del Rosario ang naging rason sa pagbibitiw ng mga doktor subalit sa tingin niya ay kumikita ang mga ito ng mas malaki sa mas magaang na workload.

“Maybe I can just hypothesize. Maaaring napagod na din, maaaring ‘yung iba nagkakasakit. They probably look at PGH na masyadong maraming trabaho. The truth of the matter is they can probably be earning more if they just [have] less work, higher pay outside,” ani Del Rosario sa isang interview ngayong Huwebes.

“Ang narinig ko minsan ‘yung sweldo na P50,000 a month, to a lot of people that’s not enough. Because if they can moonlight somewhere, they can earn twice as much,” aniya pa. Sinabi rin ni Del Rosario na ang kanilang COVID-19 beds sa ngayon ay puno na kung saan 100 katao ang nananatiling naghihintay na mai-admit sa ospital.

“We have 300 beds for COVID. We have 298 patients in the hospital, but we also have about close to 35 patients in the emergency room,” sabi ni Del Rosario. “And the reason why they are still in the emergency room is because a lot of these patients would require either a ventilator or a high-flow oxygen machine, you need oxygen ports, but we cannot accommodate them inside the hospital. The ER becomes an extension of the ICU setup in our COVID facility. We’re full,” dagdag niya.

Ayon pa kay Del Rosario, kinailangan na rin nilang isara ang ilang non-COVID facilities dahil aniya, “so that we can open up more beds that have available oxygen ports.”

Nag-mobilize na rin sila ng mga health workers mula sa ibang departamento para tumulong na gumamot at mag-alaga ng mga COVID-19 patients, subalit aminado siyang hindi ito sapat. “Even with that, kapos pa rin, because we have other non-COVID patients to take care of,” saad ni Del Rosario.
