Nananatiling tapat si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa pangako, sa kabila na dalawang buwan na lamang ang natitira sa kanyang termino, nang pagkakaroon ng “genuine” land reform o tunay na reporma sa lupa sa bansa.
Ito ang naging tugon ng Malacañang, matapos na himukin ni presidential candidate at labor leader Leody De Guzman ang mga awtoridad na gawing mapatigil ang laganap na land-grabbing sa bansa, lalo na sa apektadong mga komunidad ng indigenous people (IP).
Ayon kay acting Presidential Spokesperson Martin Andanar, ang gobyerno ay nakapagpamahagi na ng mahigit sa 229,000 ektarya ng agricultural land mula Hulyo 2018 hanggang Mayo ng nakaraang taon, kung saan nabenepisyuhan ang mahigit sa 166,000 katao.
May kabuuang 57 ancestral domain titles naman ang naisyu sa 257,000 indigenous people mula 2016 hanggang Hunyo ng nakaraang taon.
“We therefore assure our people, including Ka Leody de Guzman, that our efforts to provide lands to landless farmers will continue until the end of the President’s term,” sabi ni Andanar sa isang statement ngayong Huwebes.
Matatandaan nitong Martes, si De Guzman at kanyang grupo ay nasangkot sa isang shooting incident sa Bukidnon, habang tinatalakay ng mga ito ang tungkol sa mga isyu ng land-grabbing kasama ang mga local tribe.
“Kasama sa laban para sa mas makataong lipunan ang pagsusulong ng panlipunang kaunlaran na kung saan walang napag-iiwanan,” saad ni De Guzman sa hiwalay na statement.
