Idineklara ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang Period of National Mourning simula kahapon, June 24 hanggang sa July 3 dahil sa pagpanaw ni dating Pangulong Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III noong Huwebes nang umaga dahil sa renal disease secondary to diabetes.


Ayon kay Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, nilagdaan ni P-Duterte ang Proclamation No. 1169 kung saan napapaloob ang Period of National Mourning.


Saad ni Roque, "In this regard, the national flag shall be flown at half-mast from sunrise to sunset on all government buildings and installations throughout the Philippines and abroad for a period of ten days.


"Let us continue to pray and pay respects to the former President who gave his best to serve our nation and our people.”

Bumuhos ang pakikiramay at pakikidalamhati ng mga opisyal ng bansa sa pagpanaw ni dating Pangulong Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III sa edad na 61 ngayong Huwebes.


Una nang naglabas ng pakikidalamhati si Supreme Court Associate Justice Marvic Leonen at aniya, "It is with profound sadness that I learned this morning of the passing of former President Benigno S. Aquino III. I knew him to be a kind man, driven by his passion to serve our people, diligent in his duties, and with an avid and consuming curiosity about new knowledge and the world in general.


“I saw him carry his title with dignity and integrity. It was an honor to have served with him. He will be missed.”


Pahayag naman ni Vice-President Leni Robredo, “Nakakadurog ng puso ang balitang wala na si P-Noy. Mabuti siyang kaibigan at tapat na pangulo.
