Ipinahayag ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ngayong Martes na ang fuel subsidies para sa public transportation sector ay magpapatuloy habang aniya, palalawakin ito kabilang na ang mga tricycle drivers sa gitna ng pagtaas sa presyo ng produktong petrolyo.
“We just discussed that we are going to try, not only to continue the fuel subsidies for the transport sector but to expand it to include the tricycles which up to now have not been included,” saad ni Pangulong Marcos sa isang press briefing.
Ayon sa Chief Executive, tinalakay na nila ang funding para sa karagdagang fuel subsidies sa ginanap na kauna-unahang Cabinet meeting ng kanyang administrasyon ngayong Martes ng umaga.
“We talked about it in the Cabinet meeting. We talked about the funding, where it can come from, and how we are going to manage the funding for the additional fuel subsidies,” sabi ng Pangulo.
“We have enough budget I think to last for most of this year and a little bit beyond. But we still have to find that money if we are going to continue,” dagdag niya.
Una nang sinabi ng Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) na ang rollout ng second tranche ng P5-billion fuel subsidy program para sa public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers at operators ay nakatakda sa huling linggo ng Hunyo o unang bahagi ng Hulyo.
Hinati ito sa dalawang equal tranches, ang P5 billion fuel subsidy program ng gobyerno ay layon na i- extend ang P6,500 cash grants sa bawat isa mula sa 377,000 benepisyaryo, kabilang ang LTFRB-supervised PUV drivers at operators, tricycle drivers at operators sa ilalim ng Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), at delivery riders sa ilalim ng Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
