Naglaan ang Department of Budget and Management (DBM) ng P105. 6 bilyong pondo sa State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) sa bansa para sa susunod na taon.
Sinabi ni Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, nakapaloob ang pondo sa 2024 National Expenditure Program (NEP) at mapapakinabangan ng tatlong milyong kabataang estudyante.
“Echoing the pronouncement of our President, alongside the strengthening of our economy, we will also invest heavily in human capital development through education, health, and social protection,” sabi ni Pangandaman.
Inihayag naman ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. na mahalagang magkaroon ng free tertiary education ang mga Filipino.
“With 99.5 percent of our public schools now implementing 5-day in-person classes, this amount will fund significant investments in the education of over 28 million learners nationwide,” diin ni Marcos.
Idinagdag pa ng budget chief na may P21.7 bilyon na pondo para sa 116 SUCs sa Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education (UAQTE).
“Access to quality education will also be at the forefront of the government’s education agenda through the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education,” sabi ng kalihim.
Nabatid na ang panukalang UAQTE budget sa susunod na taon ay mas mataas nang P3 bilyon o 14.32 percent kumpara sa P18.8 bilyon na kasalukuyang budget.
