Nagbabala ang Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) matapos magpositibo sa paralytic shellfish poison ang lahat ng uri ng nakolektang shellfish at acetes o alamang sa 19 lugar sa bansa.
Ayon sa BFAR, hindi ligtas kainin ang mga shellfish at alamang sa sumusunod na lugar: Malampaya Sound, Taytay, Palawan Sorsogon Bay, Sorsogon Coastal waters Dauis at Tagbilaran City, Bohol Tambobo Bay, Sianton, Negros Oriental Coastal waters ng Daram Island, Zumarraga, San Pedro, at Cambatutay, Western Samar Coastal waters ng Calubian, Leyte, Carigara Bay, at Cancabato Bay, Tacloban City, Leyte Coastal waters ng Biliran Islands Coastal waters ng Guiuan at Matarimao Bay, Eastern Samar Dumanquillas Bay, Zamboanga del Sur Balite Bay, Mati City, Davao Oriental Lianga bay at Coastal waters ng Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.
Samantala, ayon sa BFAR ay ligtas namang kainin ang mga isda, pusit, hipon at alimango. Pahayag ng BFAR, “Fish, squids, shrimps, and crabs are safe for human consumption provided that they are fresh and washed thoroughly, and internal organs such as gills and intestines are removed before cooking.”
