Kinumpirma ng Commission on Appointments (CA) ngayong Miyerkules ang appointments ng 16 general at senior officers ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

Ang mga opisyal na nakatakda para sa ad interim appoints ay ang mga sumusunod:

Lt. Gen. Centino, bagong AFP chief

Itinalaga ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte si Philippine Army chief Lieutenant General Andres Centino bilang bagong commander ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

Papalitan ni Centino si General Jose Faustino Jr., na umabot na sa kanyang mandatory retirement age na 56 ngayong Biyernes, Nobyembre 12.

Ayon kay AFP spokesperson Colonel Ramon Zagala, “Centino has immense knowledge and experience in leading our troops on the ground and in supporting peaceful efforts to protect our people against various threats.”

“His integrity, management acumen and genuine desire for peace and development make him a competent leader who shall guide the AFP in fulfilling its mission while supporting national efforts to battle the current pandemic,” dagdag ni Zagala.

Si Centino ay miyembro ng Philippine Military Academy (PMA) “Maringal” Class of 1988.

Sa pahayag naman ng Malacañang, sinabi ni Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque na malaki ang tiwala nila kay Centino, aniya “He will continue the initiatives of his predecessors to bring lasting peace and development in the country while securing the state and upgrading our defense capability.”

“We wish the success of General Centino in his new role,” sabi pa ni Roque.

Itinakda ang turnover ceremony ngayong Biyernes ng hapon.

Medical team ng AFP, ilalagay sa mga ospital sa NCR

Ipinahayag ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) na magde-deploy sila ng medical teams sa mga ospital sa National Capital Region (NCR) dahil sa patuloy na nagkukulang ng mga personnel sa mga pasilidad sanhi ng pagtaas ng kaso ng COVID-19.

Ayon kay AFP Surgeon General Col. Fatima Claire Navarro, inisyal na magtatalaga ng dalawang team ng militar sa mga ospital na binanggit ng Department of Health (DOH).

Binubuo ang bawat team ng isang military doctor at 5 military nurses.

Sinabi ni Navarro na ang unang deployment ay itatalaga sa St. Luke’s Medical Center (SLMC) kapag ang ospital at ang DOH ay lumagda na sa isang memorandum of agreement (MOA).

Nitong Setyembre, ayon sa St. Luke’s Medical Center umabot na sa kapasidad, ang mga COVID-19 wards at critical care units sa kanilang mga sangay sa Taguig at Quezon City.

Ito ay matapos din na mahigit 100 ng kanilang health workers ay sumailalim sa iba’t ibang stages ng quarantine dahil sa exposure sa COVID-19.

Ayon pa kay Navarro, bawat medical team ay kinakailangang magnegatibo sa COVID-19 test results at required sila sa isang 14-day duty kasunod ang isang 14-day quarantine.

"This is subject to extension or reallocation of DOH depending on their evaluation,” ani Navarro.

Ang pagde-deploy ng medical teams ng military sa mga ospital sa naturang rehiyon ay karagdagan lamang sa kasalukuyang deployment sa mega swabbing at quarantine facilities sa Metro Manila, habang sa ngayon may mga team na idinagdag sa mga healthcare workers sa Davao.
